My Current Everyday Makeup Routine

I recently filmed an everyday makeup tutorial on TikTok but thought I'd go more in depth with it over here on the blog, if you'd like to see the TikTok you can view it HERE.

I like to keep my makeup simple, easy and natural looking. A lot of my everyday products are drugstore and cheap, this is because throughout the last few years I've really got out of the habit of doing makeup literally everyday, mostly because my job really doesn't require it and also because I really started to fall in love with fashion and that dulled my interest in any new beauty products or trends.

My base is always the same, a simple primer, followed with light foundation and concealer (read about what foundation I use HERE). Bronzer isn't that important to me, it's really the highlighter that I go ham on. I usually use two Mac highlighters. Soft and gentle which is a cult beauty classic and then Mac x Pony Park highlighter in 'Sky's The Limit', this product has a beautiful golden tone which really reflects well with soft and gentle and compliments my skin tone. I normally set my forehead and under eyes with a combination of Stay Matte powder and Makeup Revolution 'Luxury Baking Powder' in Banana. When I'm going "out out" I tend to go for the latter because it adds a little more coverage to my foundation.

My eyebrows are an integral part of my makeup because without them I look like a 12 year old, my brows are a bit too spare for my liking so I always go over with a pencil, I prefer a pencil because It's really quick and probably the easiest of the brow products to use. I alternate between NYX Micro Brow Pencil and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, both products work really well, obviously I'd prefer to always use Anastasia because you do pay for what you get, the pencil seems to last longer and goes on so smooth, but at the moment I'm using NYX which is still a good colour match for my brows and a cheap alternative.

I don't think I've ever worn fake eyelashes in my life, so having a good mascara is pretty important to tie my whole look together, I have quite nice lashes so I just use the good old eyelash curler and some mascara and leave it at that. I've recently been using the Max Factor Masterpiece High Def Mascara and I think it's working really well for me so far, It''s great at lash separation and the amount of product that comes off the brush onto the lash isn't too much- making it super easy to build. I also find it really easy to apply the mascara on my bottom lashes too, which I love to do because It makes the eyes look a little bit more awake.

If I want a little something extra I'll add Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Pencil in Iconic Nude and Lipstick in Very Victoria. Charlottes lip products are so creamy and go on like a dream. I really want to expand my collection because this lipstick has been through it with me, It's the perfect tone of nude to compliment my complexion and hair colour too. Every time I apply these products I always feel fancy and like a proper woman, I do think Charlottes brand really nails that sophisticated feel.

I'm actually looking to expand my daily makeup collection to include more recent/ up to date products, let me know if you have any suggestions!

Quarantine GRWM: Pink & Gold Eye With Metallic Lip

Getting ready to go nowhere, that's literally my speciality!

I woke up at 8AM today and instantly wanted to get glam, this usually isn't something I want to do, in recent years I've really strayed away from makeup and focused more on fashion, but lately something is pulling me back in.

Since falling out of love with makeup I donated/ got rid of over half of my makeup, about 6 eyeshadow palettes and loads of face products. So getting glam today was kind of hard since I own literally one eyeshadow palette but I gave it a go nonetheless! Using Anastasia Modern Renaissance, I created a pink and gold eye moment, paring it with NYX soft matte metallic lip cream in 'cannes'. Whenever I use this eyeshadow palette I always opt for a pink eye simply because the shadows are so beautiful, plus having blue eyes really makes the pink pop especially paired with the gold. The ultimate shadow colour for blue eyes is gold.

Product List:

  • The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer
  • The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation 'Bora Bora'
  • The Body Shop Full Coverage Concealer 'matte clay'
  • NYX Micro Brow Pencil 'Auburn'
  • Makeup Revolution Mega Bronzer '01 cool'
  • MAC Soft & Gentle
  • MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish 'Sky's The Limit'
  • Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder '001 Transparent'
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance
  • Shades: buon fresco, love letter, vermeer, tempera, primavera, venetian red and warm taupe
  • Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
  • NYX All In One Pencil 'Light/Clair'
  • Charlotte Tilbury Liner 'Iconic Nude'
  • NYX Soft Matte Metallic Lip Cream 'cannes'

This was my first time using The Ordinary primer and to be honest I was really sceptical because I LOVEEE my Fenty Beauty Primer, but since that ran out and I don't want to pay too much for my makeup at the moment, I opted for a cheap alternative but one that everyone and their mother have been raving about. I really liked the texture of this primer, after applying it to the face it goes sort of tacky but that's how I like my primer because I find it works well with the dry skin I have around my cheek area.

When choosing a lip colour for this look I really struggled because I literally only own two shades, nude and red, but I recently placed a Feel Unique order and got a new NYX Metallic Lip Cream in the 3 for 2 offer. This shade just happened to pair really well with the eyes, I normally wouldn't go for a metallic look on the lips but I am quite pleased with how this one turned out!

Excuse the iPhone quality, but this is the finished look! Can't wait to lay around in the house all day dolled up.

I've Stuck With The Same Foundation For 3 Years

When going through my old blog posts I came across a post from 2017 in which I was reviewing The Body Shop's 'fresh nude foundation'. It came to me as a shock that I've now been using it for a whole 3 years! I knew I'd been using it forever but wow, that's a long time to stick with the same formula. I think it's safe to say that I swear by this foundation.

For about 2 years I paired it with Kat Von D's primer, but when I came back from interning at Cosmopolitan Magazine I was gifted with a few things from the beauty cupboard, and thankfully the Fenty Beauty primer was one of them. It's silky smooth and feels so refreshing when you apply it to your skin, and it leaves your skin feeling super tacky which works really well when paired with the body shop foundation. If I was to compare the foundation to anything else I'd say it was like the Revlon long stay foundation, but much lighter coverage.

My shade is Bora Bora and  has consistently stayed the same over 3 years, which makes me think I REALLLY need a holiday!

To apply this foundation I use a damp beauty blender, pump some product onto the back of my hand (about 2 and a half pumps) then from there dot it all around my face. It blends amazingly and covers all my redness! Luckily for me I hardly break out and have pretty good skin, so most days foundation alone is enough to satisfy me but incase of spots I do have The Body Shops concealer which works a dream! I have it in the second lightest shade and it's just a tad lighter than the foundation which also gives me a slightly highlighted effect.

Although everything I've mentioned above is amazing, my favourite part about this foundation is that It's cruelty free- even though I left my vegan life behind last year I still like to buy as much cruelty free products as possible when shopping makeup and skincare.

What's your favourite foundation?
